Juliana Borinski

Juliana Borinski’s work fades out the boundaries within several practices, such as video, experimental cinema, photography and performance.

Her elaborate media-installations often integrate new technological materials with machines. These machines refer to historic media-techniques or physical experiments. She showcases simple experiences: the consideration of the phenomenon of abstract images. This is in contrast with the current technological complexity and esthetics.

Juliana Borinski was born in 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She went to the Academy of Media Art Cologne (KHM), located in Germany. Fellow students were Valie Export, Jürgn Klauke and Matthias Müller. She graduated in 2007 in audio-visual media. Before that she studied between 2004 and 2005 at Villa Arson, an art school in Nice, France.
