Marie-Laure Delaby and Juan Duque both reside in Ghent, they were part of last year’s Summercamp. They will present the project they have started up in the meanwhile: Disruptive Citylab.

Departing from the historical area, the walk is based on experiencing urban morphology, following original axes, city landmarks, infrastructures (communication, transportation systems),...This walk will be used in first instance as a laboratory for the reading of different urban contexts (historical core, suburbs, industrial zones, social composition) and phenomenons (urban voids,non-places, urban borders and limits).

KASKstudent Karen Van der Perre presents her graduating work ‘the animated landscape’, a unique garden on the timelab terrain.

The Portuguese Maria Lucia Cruz Correia lives and works in Ghent and was part of the Summercamp last year. With the project ‘City-re-think of Ill-ness’, she searched the city for scarring and wounds and proposed ways to heal them. She will talk about that project and also report on her new work involving a house and a termite population.

Also street artist Daniel Rivero (El Topo) made Ghent his home. He just opened a show at DOK Gent and is a regular guest at timelab’s fabLab. He presents his work.

      20:00 Mark Shepard: ‘Sentient City Survival Kit’

Mark Shepard presents his ‘Sentient City Survival Kit’, a performative installation and website. The project consists of a series of prototypes for electronic artifacts that subvert marketing and surveillance technologies encountered in everyday urban life: an umbrella studded with infrared LEDs that “blind” closed-circuit television cameras or a mobile GPS navigation device designed for serendipitous encounters. Viewers at the installation of Sentient City Survival Kit will be able to test these prototypes in their cities; the website will include DIY tutorials and diagrams for building each item in the kit.
