As the historical part of cinematography is based on the theory of the Belgian physician Joseph Plateau I would like to take advantage of his inventions of optical illusions developed in Gent and the mystery of his personal ambition and advantage he took that he became blind for scientific research. The force and myth of the sun in relation to media and visual technology will be my topic during the summercamp, which will hopefully shining on all of the participants and interested people joining us as much as possible.
Biography
The work of Juliana Borinski blurs the borders between different practices such as video, experimental cinema, photography and performance. Her expanded media installations often integrate basic new technologies materials or machines referring to historical media techniques or physic experiments. Contrasting with the contemporary technological complexity and aesthetics, they propose very simple sensitive experiences: the contemplation of phenomenon or abstract images. Proposing interfaces between spectators and reality, those installations try to focus on the original role of media and its aesthetic potential.
Born in 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she studied at the Villa Arson, Nice, France and at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) in Germany, where she graduated in 2007 with a MA in audio-visual media art.
