Geraldine Juarez

2010

Geraldine invites you to a picknick about 'cypherspace':

Felix Atari, ciphernaut from Sweden, will join us for a talk about the raise of cipherspace: land of anonimity, encryption and where copyright does not exist. Join us for a picnick to share information at 'Pierkespark'.

Cipherspace is part of the series Teorias del Caos, a on-offline picknic about internet, capital and chaos.

Bring food to share!

Geraldine lives in Mexico City and works in the street and the internet, creating simple mechanisms that deface the possibilities of crisis and failure, via low-tech, waste and piracy.

Lately, her focus has been in understanding the configurations and effects created when society, information, pop culture, intellectual property and power collide.

Geraldine is a pupil of the internet, her friends, and Eyebeam, where she was Senior Fellow at the Production Lab (2003, 2006–2008). She has also been resident at inCUBATE in Chicago (2008) and currently holds an infinite research fellowship at the F.A.T Lab. She has been collaborating net activist projects like Open Acta and the Physical Agents of the Internet (A.F.I.) ‚ and writing about information and politics in the citizen blog Critica Pura. Her work has been shown internationally at collective exhibitions such as Interference, Feedback and Other Options in Eyebeam, State of the Art: New York (URBIS, UK), Actions: What you can do with the city (Centre for Canadian Architecture), G.R.L.| F.A.T. World Summit (CREAM, Japan) Los Impolíticos (Pan Pallazo delle Arti Napoli) — and in festivals such as Transmediale, Piksel, Pixelache, Conflux and Futuresonic
